Shekhar Golchha insists special package to recover crisis-hit businesses

KATHMANDU: Senior vice-president and the president elect of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has requested the government to bring a special relief package targeting businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the inaugural programme of 54th annual general meeting of FNCCI on Thursday, Golchha said that failure to ensure recovery of the economy on time will increase unemployment rate and result to economic crisis.

“Issues covered by the budget and the monetary policy are positive. But we need a fast-paced recovery of business and the economy which is possible only through special economy and business recovery plan and package from the government,” said Golchha.

The president elect of FNCCI also informed that his leadership at FNCCI is preparing a strategic paper to recover business and boost economic growth for next three, five and 10 years. “Implementation of this vision plan is not possible without the support from the government,” he added.

As per him, the FNCCI wants to achieve double-digit economic growth, create employment for 400,000 young people annually, reduce trade deficits, build a self-reliant economy collaborating and coordinating with the government.
