KATHMANDU: Revenue from the automobile sector has declined by Rs 4 billion this year as compared to the previous year.
As per statistics maintained by the Department of Revenue (DoR), the government has collected Rs 27.42 billion revenue from the automobile sector in the first four months of 2020-21 against Rs 31.99 billion collected during the same period last fiscal year.
Entrepreneurs in the automobile sector said that vehicle import was hit for several months due to the lockdown which directly affected their business and the revenue of the government.
As per DoC data, country had imported automobiles worth Rs 28.66 billion in the four months of the current fiscal year against Rs 34.74 billion worth of vehicles imported during the same period of the last fiscal year.
