Whopping rise in foreign aid mobilization

KATHMANDU: The government has mobilized Rs 85.4 billion foreign aid in the first three months of 2020-21, as per the Ministry of Finance (MoF). The aid mobilization is 444.8 percent higher compared to what was mobilized during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The government had mobilized Rs 15.67 billion foreign aid in the first three months of 2019-20.

Of the total foreign aid mobilized so far this year, RS 7.98 billion is grant (9%) while Rs 77.72 billion (91%) is loan.

Out of the total assistance, 63 percent is in the road and good governance sector, 33 percent in energy, 2 percent in education and 1 percent each in reconstruction and COVID-19 control.
