Hitendra Dev Shakya appointed officiating managing director of NEA

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has decided to appoint Hitendra Dev Shakya as the officiating managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

Shakya has been called from NEA Engineering Company, a subsidiary of the authority where he had been working as the managing director.

The Cabinet meet soon is also likely to appoint Shakya as the managing director of NEA.

Former  executive director Kulman Ghising’s tenure in NEA expired on September 14. Since then, Lekhnath Koirala has been leading the authority as the acting executive director.

As Shakya is a senior among the deputy executive directors, he will replace Koirala on hierarchy basis if he returns to the authority.

Shakya has an earlier working experience of documentation in Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), plant manager in Chilime.
