KATHMANDU: The COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) has recommended the government to stop rescue flights stating that rescue of Nepalese stranded abroad due to Coronavirus has been completed.
Stating that 136,216 people have been rescued and repatriated so far, the CCMC has recommended the government to stop the rescue flights.
Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Mahendra Prasad Guragain, said that the decision was made after the Nepalese diplomatic missions in different countries informed that the rescue operation is almost completed.
If any Nepalese remain to be brought back, then they will be brought through regular flights, as per CCMC. Similarly, it has decided to start Jhula Ghat checkpoint of Baitadi as there are 13 entry points to enter Nepal through the border.
It also recommended the Council of Ministers to return the family members of employees at the diplomatic missions to Nepal.
CCMC also suggested the government to operate cable cars, jungle safari and adventure tourism. It also decided to request health workers from local level wards to provide counseling services for health counseling if the number of corona infected staying in home isolation is increased.
