Election fever grips FNCCI, Pradhan filing candidacy today

KATHMANDU: With the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) approaching, industrialists and business people across the country are busy finalizing their candidacy and candidates to vote for the organization’s new executive committee.

According to the schedule, the federation will hold its 54th AGM on November 26 and 27 with the election being conducted on the November 28.

The FNCCI statute has a provision whereby the senior vice-president of the organization automatically becomes the president in the next election. It means that Shekhar Golchha, who is FNCCI’s current senior vice-president of FNCCI, will be the organization’s president for next term.

As the result of such provision, the election for the post of senior vice president is at the center and aspirants for the post are seen in a race to win the support of FNCCI members.

FNCCI vice-president Chandra Prasad Dhakal has already filed his candidacy for senior vice-president post of the organization almost two weeks before while another aspirant Kishore Pradhan, who is also the vice-president of FNCCI is filing his candidacy for senior vice-president post today.

Dhakal is supported by industralists Umesh Lal Shrestha, Guna Nidhi Tiwari and Ramchandra Sangai, among others while Pradhan is backed by industralists Dinesh Shrestha, Anjan Shrestha and Saurabh Jyoti, among others.

The list of eligible voters for the 54th AGM will be published on November 26 at 11am.The time to lodge protest against any voter and subsequent investigation has been set from 11:30am to 1:30pm on the same day.

Similarly, the final list of eligible voters will be published at 3pm on November 26 itself. The time for candidates to withdraw their nominations is from 11am to 3pm on November 21.

The final list of candidates will be published at 5pm on November 23. The election is scheduled from 8am to 4pm on November 28.
