FNCCI publishes schedule for its AGM and election

Kathmandu: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has published the schedule for its pending election that was supposed to have been held in April. The election could not be held earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the new schedule, the federation will hold its 54th annual general meeting (AGM) on November 26 and 27 with the election being conducted on the November 28.

As per the decision of the federation’s executive committee, the election committee has published a notice for registration of the candidates for the nomination in the election.

According to the notice, the last date to submit the documents for nominations is November 23.The election committee will publish the first name list of the representatives who are eligible to participate in the election on November 17.

Likewise, the committee has allowed concerned members to submit their objections on the names published in the list between 11am and 2pm on November 18.After investigating the allegations if there are any, the committee will publish the second name list with necessary amendments on the same day itself at 6pm.

Considering the dire situation created by the COVID-19, the committee has prioritized the nomination process including the registration of representatives, filling bank vouchers including representative registration fee and membership fee via email. It has informed that all the original documents must be submitted at the federation’s secretariat 5pm on November 19, otherwise the subsequent nomination will be automatically canceled.

The list of eligible voters for the 54th AGM will be published on November 26 at 11am.The time to lodge protest against any voter and subsequent investigation has been set from 11:30am to 1:30pm on the same day. Similarly, the final list of eligible voters will be published at 3pm on November 26 itself. The time for candidates to withdraw their nominations is from 11am to 3pm on November 21.
The final list of candidates will be published at 5pm on November 23. The election is scheduled from 8am to 4pm on November 28.
As per a provision in FNCCI’s statute, incumbent Senior Vice-President, Shekhar Golchha, will automatically become the president. Hence, the race for the senior vice-president’s post holds a lot of value at the federation. The federation’s Vice Presidents, Kishor Pradhan and Chandra Dhakal, are contesting for the post of senior vice-president.

The election will be held at the FNCCI office located in Teku, Karki Banquet Baber Mahal and Pragya Pratisthan Kamaladi.
