Nepal Telecom to provide information in 21 local languages

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom (NT) has collaborated with Radio Nepal to disseminate information in 21 different local languages that are spoken in the country.

Targeting subscribers from various castes and communities who speak different dialects, NT has started collaboration with the national radio broadcaster to provide the service information in 21 local languages, reads a press statement issued by Nepal Telecom.

Radio Nepal has been broadcasting messages in around one-and-a-half dozen languages spoken in the country like Rai, Bantawa, Limbu, Eastern Tharu, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Tamang, Sherpa, Urdu, Nepal (Newari), Gurung, Magar, Awadhi, West Tharu, Kham Magar, Doteli and Rana Tharu from its broadcasting centers at Singha Durbar, Dhankuta, Bardibas, Pokhara, Dang and Dipayal.

Nepal Telecom believes this new initiative will benefit customers of different languages and communities. The company will be providing detailed information about its service including voice and data packs and their usages in the local languages.
