Discussion on additional air routes for int’l flights held with India

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) today held discussion with India on providing Nepal with additional air routes for international flights.

At a meeting with Indian ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra today at Singhadurbar. aviation minister Yogesh Bhattarai urged India to provide Nepal additional air routes to Nepal.

“I and Kwatra discussed on various bilateral issues including air routes between Nepal and India over Bhairahawa, Nepalganj and Mahendranagar entry/exit points,” said Minister Bhattarai.

Nepal and India had inked an agreement to provide additional air routes to Nepal for the operation of international flights in June 2018. As per the agreement, three new bidirectional air routes – from Biratnagar, Janakpur and Mahendranagar will be opened to Nepal for international flights. However, the decision is yet to be implemented.

The only authorised air entry point to Nepal from south is Simara.
