KATHMANDU: Within a short period of implementing the online system for revenue collection from September 17, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has succeeded in collecting revenue worth Rs 55 million.
In the initial phase the KMC introduced the online system in 10 wards. The online revenue determination and collection system was later brought into implementation in all the wards from September 29. KMC sources said that the system has been a very efficient and effective mechanism for collecting revenue.
Shivaraj Adhikari, KMC revenue department director, said that KMC had been receiving complaints in the past and there were also allegations that the office was not transparent while raising revenue. “Now with the online system in place there will be no room for any complaints,” he said.
According to him, the system has made it easier for the KMC to manage its staff and make revenue transactions transparent along with facilitating the service seekers.
The online tax system consists of two platforms – public and core. The service recipients can use the public portal feature to make preliminary calculations of the taxes that need to be paid to the KMC from their homes itself.
The system automatically generates the details of the revenue to be paid after the concerned form has been duly filled. (RSS)
