72pc progress in internet expansion project

KATHMANDU: Different internet expansion projects initiated by Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to increase the broadband connectivity across the country have so far achieved 72.3 percent progress.

As per NTA, broadband internet has been connected across 10,518 places as of mid-September. Of the 18 packages under broadband expansion project, NTA has signed agreement for 17 packages.

Under the agreement signed, broadband internet needs to be connected in 14,468 places. NTA has awarded these projects to different internet service providers who have taken license from the authority. These projects are being carried out using resources of the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund.
