Himalaya Airlines gets self ground-handling permit

KATHMANDU: Himalaya Airlines has acquired the ‘self ground-handling’ permit at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

Prior to this, only Thai Airways and Air India had acquired such permit from the government. Nepal Airlines has been undertaking the ground handling responsibility of other airlines at the TIA.

Himalaya Airlines, which started international flights from Nepal in 2016, had applied for the self ground-handling permit at CAAN a few months ago.

While Yeti Group of Nepal has a majority share in Himalaya Airlines, the airline company also has Chinese stake.
Currently, Himalaya Airlines operate international flights through four aircraft.
