KATHMANDU: The government today decided to resume chartered and rescue flights in a bid to bring home stranded Nepalis from across different countries.
The Cabinet meeting held this evening took the decision to resume chartered and repatriation flights. The Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC), a few days ago, had decided to suspended all repatriation flights for an indefinite period citing rising cases of COVID-19 and prohibitory orders issued by local governments.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet meeting has also finalized the standard for overseas returnee via flights. As per the new standard, those Nepalis returning home via flights will have to compulsorily stay in quarantine for seven days at selected hotels identified by the government. Similarly, returnee Nepali should themselves book hotels and bear the cost of staying there.
The government will allow maximum three chartered, rescue flights a day while such flights can bring home only Nepali citizens.
