Prohibitory order in Kathmandu Valley effective from Wednesday midnight

Kathmandu: After the alarming spike in coronavirus cases in the Kathmandu Valley, the government has imposed a week-long prohibitory order in the Valley effective from midnight, Wednesday.

A joint meeting of the district security committees of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur took the decision to this effect. The decision means that all services, except essential ones, will be shut from Wednesday, including businesses. Similarly, mobility of vehicles and people will also be disallowed.

The government had recently permitted Chief District Officers (CDOs) to issue a prohibitory order at any time after analyzing the risk of the coronavirus infection. The Cabinet meeting of Monday had decided that the District COVID Crisis Management Committee could analyze the risks and issue a prohibitory order that would be applicable to the entire district or any part of the district.
The Kathmandu Valley is witnessing rise in COVID-19 cases everyday, 205 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours alone.
